Samsung has confirmed its place as a leader in the Generative AI smartphone market with the Galaxy S24 Ultra. This phone emerged as the best-selling Android phone in Q1 2024 with a market share of 30.1%.
The Ultra model topped the charts, followed by the base Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+, each holding 16.8% of the global GenAI-phone sales.
Dominance in a Growing Market
AI-enabled smartphones made up 6% of global sales in Q1 2024, a significant increase from 1.3% in Q4 2023. This surge is largely attributed to Samsung’s innovative Galaxy AI features, including Circle to Search, Live Translate, and Generative Wallpapers.
Competitors and Future Trends
Other brands like Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, OnePlus, Honor, and Google also offer GenAI-capable phones. Google’s Pixel 8 Pro secured the 10th spot in Q1 sales. Market analysts predict the GenAI segment will grow, contributing 11% to the global phone market by the end of 2024.
