A leaked list from Samsung Poland reveals the global rollout plan for the Android 4.4 KitKat update across Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
Highlights of the extensive update list include:
- Galaxy Note 3, Note 2
- Galaxy S4, S4 Active, S4 Mini
- Galaxy Mega phones
- Galaxy Note and Tab tablets
- Galaxy Grand and Galaxy Express 2
Some devices like the Note 3 may jump directly to KitKat while others could see an intermediate Jelly Bean release first.
Importantly, the Galaxy S3 is a notable exception and will not receive KitKat due to memory limitations – as Samsung explained previously.
No exact dates are available yet. KitKat updates may hit KIES or over-the-air before notifications roll out. Users should check manually if updates don’t prompt automatically.
Samsung Poland also confirmed the recent Galaxy Grand 2 LTE will be updated from Jelly Bean to KitKat. And the list covers refreshes via both KIES and OTA.
While details are still developing, the leak provides a broader look at Samsung’s KitKat upgrade cycle. Most high-end devices from 2013 and late 2012 look slated to make the jump to Android 4.4.
