Don’t get too excited, Galaxy S3 owners – that KitKat update isn’t coming after all. Well, unless you have the LTE version that is.

Earlier today, rumors flew about a pending Android 4.4 update for the trusty old S3. But for most models, it ain’t happening. Just as we reported nearly a month back, only the LTE variants have enough RAM for KitKat.
See, Samsung Poland leaked an update list last month suggesting the S3 was included. But we double-checked and Galaxy S3 phones without LTE were later axed. Not enough memory.
Today I reached out to Samsung Poland again to confirm. Sure enough, they reiterated – no KitKat for the regular Galaxy S3 crowd. Only the LTE models will join the update party.
So for those still rocking that good old S3, enjoy your Jelly Bean a bit longer. At least until your next upgrade. KitKat looked sweet, but sometimes hardware just can’t keep up with newer software.
Them’s the breaks with Android. You win some, you lose some. Here’s hoping Samsung hooks up loyal S3 users with other goodies down the road.
