Videos have surfaced allegedly showing a pre-production Samsung device labeled SM-G906A, speculated to be a Galaxy S5 variant. But, inconsistencies have raised doubts about its authenticity.

The device has an aluminum back cover making it thicker than the Galaxy S5. It also sports a 1080p display, Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB RAM, and Android 4.4.3, according to the footage.
However, the model number and “Galaxy S5P” identifier don’t align with known variants. The Android 4.4.3 build number also deviates from the expected format.
Moreover, the videos appeared on a YouTube channel selling replacement phone backs. Some suspect this could merely be a Galaxy S5 with a custom aluminum cover running tweaked firmware.
Without further verification or Samsung’s confirmation, skepticism looms over the device and whether it represents a real S5 iteration. There are many inconsistencies compared to leaked details of Samsung’s pipeline.
If legitimate, it could signify a premium metallic Galaxy S5 iteration but concrete evidence is lacking. Truly verifying pre-release phones from vague videos is extremely difficult.
For now, take this alleged Galaxy S5P with a huge grain of salt. But the mere prospect of an aluminum Samsung flagship will undoubtedly stir excitement and speculation regardless of doubts.
